Ogun state born Kuforiji Oluwaseun receives plaque from Guinness World Record
The Guinness World Records has officially recognised Ogun State born Kuforiji Oluwaseun for setting the world record for the longest sewing marathon. Yesterday, a plaque and document was sent to him.
He achieved this extraordinary feat by sewing continuously for 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds, from January 22 to January 26, 2024, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
During the sewing marathon, Kuforiji used only a needle and thread throughout the marathon. A true testament to his skill, patience, and craftsmanship. Within the first six hours, he remarkably completed a full Agbada outfit, showcasing his speed and precision. By the end of the marathon, he had successfully sewn a total of 18 outfits, further proving his endurance and dedication to the art of tailoring.
As the first Nigerian to hold this record, Kuforiji’s success reinforces Ogun State’s reputation as a hub for innovation and excellence. His achievement serves as an inspiration to young talents, particularly those in the fashion and textile industry, proving that Nigerians can compete and excel at the highest levels globally.
With more than a decade of experience as a fashion designer, Kuforiji Oluwaseun, who is a graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education,(Taused), Ijebu Ode, is the brain behind the fashion house “Koil Creations.”
While speaking with newsmen in Ijebu-Ode, Kuforiji expressed his gratitude to his supporters, the people of Ogun State, and everyone who believed in his journey.
He said: “This victory is for Ogun State, for Nigeria, and for every young creative out there. It proves that hard work, passion, and perseverance can take us to the global stage.”
Ogun State has long been known for producing outstanding figures in various fields, and Kuforiji’s success is another testament to the great potential that exists within the state. His record-breaking sewing marathon shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s growing fashion and textile industry, encouraging investment in local talents and craftsmanship.
By securing a place in the Guinness World Records, Kuforiji Oluwaseun has brought pride to Ogun State and Nigeria. His accomplishment underscores the fact that Nigerian creatives and artisans are making significant strides on the international stage.
