PFN launches programme to strengthen accountability, social development

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos State Chapter, has launched a strategic statewide collaboration aimed at strengthening governance, accountability, and social development across Lagos State.

The initiative, led by the PFN Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Yemi Davids, marks a deliberate and visionary shift in the role of the church within public life.

Spanning all 20 local councils and 37 Local Council Development Areas, the engagement reflects PFN’s resolve to move beyond passive commentary into purposeful partnership with government institutions at the grassroots.

Under the leadership of Pastor Yemi Davids, PFN Lagos is being repositioned as a credible bridge between faith based moral values and civic administration, ensuring that ethical leadership and community responsibility remain central to governance.

Central to this historic undertaking is the New Dawn Agenda 2025, a strategic framework designed to deepen PFN’s relevance and impact in Lagos State. The agenda is built on five core pillars: reconciliation, relevance, revival, resources, and re-envisioning. Together, these pillars emphasize unity within diversity among churches, renewed spiritual vitality among leaders, sustainable resourcing for community impact, and a strong commitment to accountability, integrity, and character in leadership.

Speaking also on the vision behind the initiative, the Director for Intergovernmental Affairs, Dr. Akin Akinpelu, emphasized that the statewide tour is not ceremonial but transformational.

According to him, the church must be recognized as a critical stakeholder in community development and nation building. By engaging directly with local government leadership, PFN seeks to promote values of integrity, service, and excellence in public office, while fostering mutual accountability between faith leaders and administrators.

The six-week engagement includes structured meetings with local council chairmen, secretaries to local councils, and other key stakeholders. Through these interactions, PFN formally presents its mandate, advocates for godly and ethical leadership, and identifies practical areas where faith based organizations can complement government efforts particularly in welfare provision, education, peace building, and social cohesion.
