Civil Liberty Group Hails Gov Udom’s 100 Days In Office

THE Akwa Ibom state governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel came to the state with a mission. This he demonstrated on the day he was sworn in as he unveiled his 12 points blueprint on how he would run the state so that at the end of the first four years, the people can assess him objectively.

According to him, his administration would transform the economy of the state via industrialisation and sustainable public-private sector initiative, respect and uphold the tenets of democratic governance, among others.

To help him achieve these set goals, he did not waste time in putting the executive in place by constituting a 24- man executive council that would help him drive his vision.

Speaking with The Guardian, the Chairman, Civil Liberty Organization (CLO) in the state, Comrade Clifford Thomas said 100 day was too short to assess the governor, because he inherited a structure that was not too good.

However, he said in the last 100 days, Udom has done well. “Udom came with a 12 point agenda on his inauguration, the agenda is what was packaged from a private sector for a public sector.

100 days might be to short to assess him, but to be honest Udom has surprised a lot of people because most people least expected him to break even in governance so soon. “There has been some economic measures here and there, but I think that it is his fiscal and monetary discipline that he has brought to play.

Before now, we have a lot of loopholes where monies were wasted, some projected initiated but you cannot feel the impact. But within100 days, the governor has been able to lay a foundation for fundamental companies and operation that will help the state.
