I HAVE persistently asked a pertinent question on how vets’ directives to their clients concerning pets can be enforced?
I have come to the conclusion that such an enterprise cannot really be realised, as the interest of the client or the owner in his pet is foremost.
How interested is he in the affairs of his pet? Is he one that considers the pet as a member of his family or just another irritating being that he must have anyway? These things matter.
Did he acquire the pet out of love for nature and its wonders? Did he acquire the pet as a gift? Was the pet brought home because a loving child/wife/husband demanded for it? Was the pet rescued or acquired out of pity because a previous owner was mean?
Was it just to answer our societal exigency of lack of proper security in the land? Or was it just to produce puppies or make money for you?
Any of these aforementioned reasons can also influence his response to how he would carry out instructions given by the vet for the care of the pet.
If he adores nature to an extent that he acquires a pet, I would naturally assume that such love would be transferred to the pet at any time.
If he/she loves the child/wife/husband to a level that he or she bought a pet for her, I would also expect that he/she would not want to break the heart of the child or spouse by devoting some time for the pet.
I would expect that a pet or should I say an animal (in this case) that you bought for your household security should also receive premium attention because of the responsibilities you have imposed on him.
If not, you may have your life by the skin of your teeth (since you believe that the pet has a part to play in your security).
And have you rescued a pet? Or bought one to make money? Are those not enough reasons why you should be kind to the pet?
In fact, if you consider the diverse reasons that could trigger pet acquisition, all except when you got one to make money, emphasise love.
And, if love is the reason why you took that step, should you not sustain it to keep the reason alive?
I want you to consider that small thing that triggered your initial interest and remember always that you have to show a little bit of attention to the things that will promote the well-being of the pet.
