Ramadan Kareem to all our Muslim sisters. Ramadan this year comes in one of the hottest months of the year and we know how the hot weather can affect our skin. Throw in fasting for long hours along with the hot weather and lack of fluids, and you just might be faced with the possibility of skin dryness or damage.

This is exactly why you should be taking extra care of your skin during this period and this would help you do just that. In order to enjoy radiant skin, check out these eight tips to keep your skin glowing and healthy.

Make sure you drink not less than eight cups of water (or more if possible). Other fluids work as well, whether the traditional Ramadan drinks or green tea. They can do magic as well as rejuvenate your skin.

If your skin is sensitive to dairy products normally, avoid drinking lots of milk/milk-based drinks because it can enhance pimples, acne and breakouts.

Limit your intake of caffeine. This includes soda, coffee and tea as they can easily absorb minerals and fluids from your body, which will leave your skin dry.

Many of us neglect the area around our eyes and that’s when dark circles appear. In order to enjoy a flawless complexion, make sure to moisturize the area around your eyes by resting cool tea bags on it, three times per week. Try to sleep well and apply eye cream daily.

Try to incorporate more salads, vegetables and grilled meat/chicken into your daily Iftar, instead of fatty, fried or heavy food like eba, pounded yam and so on. Why? Sticking with healthier foods helps you get a clear, hydrated skin, which isn’t only glowing but also acne free.

Make sure to apply sufficient amount of sunscreen if you’re going out in the sun. Use hand creams a lot through out the day.

Eat more nuts like almonds and cashews. They’ll rejuvenate your skin, as they’re rich in fibers and fatty acids.

When you wash your face with slightly hot water, make sure to moisturize your skin afterwards by applying facial creams and lotions to make it smoother.

Have a beautiful, healthy Ramadan.
