With clarity of her debut single video, No Be Jazz, which drop two weeks ago, you would think, fast rising Afro-Pop singer Guchi has been in music industry for a long time, particularly as ace music video director, Unlimited LA, directed the video.

Born 22 years ago and christened Ugochi Onuoha, the beautiful and petite singer with the release of her introductory offering has announced to all that she is here to take her rightful place in fiercely competitive Nigerian music industry.

Expressing her confidence of taking the music industry by storm, Guchi, who signed to MVP Entertainment said she is well prepared, as she has dozens of songs in her kitty, which she will be dropping back-to-back later on in the year.

“I will say it is a deliberate decision because I was being for now and the future. I started music in 2012 but didn’t come out until now. My delay in coming is for a reason and I will say that I’m very well prepared because I have dozens of song already pen down by me, which I will be dropping back-to-back this year,” she said.

According to the Mbaise, Imo State native, No Be Jazz preaches the virtues of love and patience, adding that her mother who loves all her songs inspired it.

“In the good times and in the bad times, my mother was with my dad. But today, it is a different thing all together; everybody wants the money. The song is preaching genuine love and trust,” she added.

Popular on the Abuja music circuit where she grew up, the vivacious singer stated that she relocated to Lagos, the hub of Nigeria’s entertainment late last year for better visibility.

The highlife and dancehall singer who has to her credit some of Abuja’s most coveted awards such as ‘Next Rated Artiste (Female)’ noted that music for is passion, and she has always had passion for art while growing up.

“I started music at the age of seven and the art for me is all about passion and love. I started from the choir. Growing up my dad always play Michael Jackson songs and that made loved him from childhood. My dad is a music lover and I will say that my love for music emanated from him.

“I remembered when we had a get-together with my grandfather in the village, Mbaise in Imo State, I was the only grandchild among the many grandchildren at the time that could stand up and sing before everybody with a microphone. So I will say my journey into music started from that time,” Guchi explained.

The University of Lagos undergraduate, who is currently studying Theatre and Media Arts, said she was formerly a student of Edo State University, but had to start afresh in UNILAG.

Guchi’s soft voice no doubt will stand her out and bring to the class of top female singers not just in Nigeria but also across the African continent. Unlike some other singers, whose soft singing voice is deeper when they talk, Guchi’s singing voice is the same like her talking voice.

Like they say, big things usually come in small packs. Guchi’s beauty, petite stature, height and marching child-like textured voice make an object to fall in love with.
