Clive Christian launches Exclusive Perfume Collection at Alara Lagos
The luxury perfume brand Clive Christian captivated Lagos society with an exclusive launch event on December 12th, hosted at the renowned Alara Lagos.
This grand evening showcased the brand’s dedication to timeless craftsmanship and unparalleled sophistication.
Arriving guests were welcomed with fine cocktails and the mellow tunes of a live DJ, creating an atmosphere of elegance. The evening began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Imisioluwa Jacobs, marketing associate of Alara, celebrating the partnership between the iconic British perfume house and Lagos’s premier luxury destination.
Speaking at the event, Imisioluwa remarked, “Alara Lagos is honoured to collaborate with Clive Christian, a brand synonymous with luxury, heritage, and timeless craftsmanship. Tonight, we celebrate an enduring commitment to excellence and unparalleled artistry. Clive Christian is a testament to the beauty of tradition meeting innovation.”
Founded in 1999 by Clive Christian OBE, the brand traces its roots to the Crown Perfumery Company, established in 1872. Known for its royal legacy, each bottle is adorned with a crown design granted by Queen Victoria herself. Over the decades, the brand has become synonymous with unrivalled quality, featuring a perfume oil inclusion of 20 percent or more in every bottle and incorporating rare ingredients such as 50-year-old Indian sandalwood and saffron.
The highlight of the evening was a keynote address delivered by Tate Torongo, Clive Christian’s Regional Director for the UK, Africa & Europe, who introduced guests to the brand’s extensive perfume collection and shared insights into its legacy.
Tate Torongo, regional director for the UK, Africa and Europe of Clive Christian spoke about the origins of the Crown Perfumery Company, emphasizing its 1839 foundation and royal recognition from Queen Victoria in 1872. He described the perfumes as “a journey of self-expression, meticulously crafted from the rarest ingredients and designed to tell a unique story for every wearer.”
Tanya Rupani, Clive Christian’s Luxury Brand Consultant, further emphasized the blend of tradition and modernity in the brand’s approach. “Luxury brands have an art of storytelling unfolding across all customer touchpoints, and I like to bridge that vision and reality.
Clive Christian has so much heritage to build on but also embraces a very modern approach. This brand isn’t afraid to experiment and collaborate, which already demonstrates a younger mindset while carrying forward an extraordinary legacy,” she explained.
Guests were treated to an immersive exploration of Clive Christian’s iconic collections. These included the Original Collection, inspired by the Crown Perfumery’s storied past and crafted as timeless classics; the Crown Collection, celebrating Victorian heritage; and the Noble Collection, which pays homage to art, culture, and architecture.
The event also highlighted the Private Collection, featuring scents inspired by deeply personal narratives, and the bold and experimental Addictive Arts Collection.
Describing the event, a guest noted, “This was more than a launch; it was a poetic symphony of scent, history, and artistry. Clive Christian embodies the true essence of perfumery.”
As the evening concluded, attendees left with a deeper appreciation for the art of perfumery and Clive Christian’s ability to blend its heritage with contemporary luxury. The event not only highlighted the brand’s unparalleled craftsmanship but also reaffirmed its commitment to modern innovation while honouring its extraordinary past.
