The groundbreaking agricultural empowerment initiative is designed to lift and showcase Nigeria’s bountiful farming community. The pilot phase of MBF, which began on Sunday, September 15, will climax on Wednesday October 16, 2024 in Lagos in a grand finale on World Food Day 2024.

The MBF project is the Farm Junction Foundation’s first major project that was created to support and celebrate Nigeria female farmers by enhancing their expertise in agricultural practices, communication, marketing, and distribution.

According to the organisers of farmers’ beauty pageant, selected participants will enhance their skills during the program through hands-on training, mentorship, and public engagement activities through strategic partnership and collaboration with Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture.

Speaking on the initiative, the Project Coordinator for the MBF program, Dumebi Oluwole said, “to ensure that all the skills acquired eventually contribute to the overarching theme of making farming cool to achieve sub-national and national food security, Farm Junction Foundation will be providing grand prizes, including a brand new truck to the winner, seed funding worth over N5 million and other farming tools to all the participants to improve their agricultural output and aid distribution to open markets after the program ends. We have also set up effective monitoring practices to ensure this happens.”

He noted that Farm Junction Ltd’s overall overarching mission is to connect farmers directly to consumers, stabilise prices, and address some of the known key challenges in Nigeria’s food value chain. He added that FJF was established to focus on community development and empowerment.

Also speaking on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer of Demiller Industries and Farm Junction Ltd, Yinka Omogoye said, “the MBF programme is aligned with this mission and part of Farm Junction’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate to empower the farming community.”
