
The Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) held its 2024 Annual Gala and Awards Night recently to honour those making impact in the health sector in Nigeria.
In her welcome address, the Managing Director of PSHAN, Dr Tinuola Akinbolagbe, said the annual gala and awards nights is also to stimulate and encourage others to follow similar footsteps of those making impact in the health sector.
She said: “This evening celebrates our collective efforts in advancing healthcare in Nigeria. Tonight, we reflect on our journey, with your support, driving healthcare equity and meaningful impact. We are honoured to acknowledge those who have committed their time, talent and resources to improving health outcomes across the nation.
“We celebrate exemplary leadership, commitment and innovation in healthcare, championing reforms and ensuring that every Nigerian has equitable access to quality healthcare services through a system that they trust. Their dedication inspires us and strengthens our commitment to a healthier Nigeria.
“I specially acknowledge PSHAN founding members, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Zenith Bank and Access Corp for the vision and the decision to act made exactly a decade ago. Recognising also, the PSHAN Board of Directors here present and thanking them for gracing this occasion.”
She noted that PSHAN is also celebrating ten and with the period it has raised over N8 billion that has been used in health intervention at the national and sub-national levels, impacting over 100 million Nigerians.
Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, Ms Amina J. Mohammed, also delivered a special virtual address, noting that Universal Health Coverage is a key to achieving all the SDGs.”
In his keynote speech, WHO Country Representative, Dr. Walter Mulombo said PSHAN’s journey proves that strategic collaboration is the way forward for sustainable healthcare development.
Some of the winners include LifeBank Nigeria which won the Healthcare Innovation Award category; the Healthcare Social Responsibility Award went to Shell Nigeria; the Health Partnership of the Year Award was won Roche while Hospital Support Programme (NLNG HSP)-NLNG smiled home with the Outstanding Health Initiative award.
The winner in the Health Impact Award was Chevron, Digital Health Award was won by Mobihealth International while PSHAN MVP Award went to MTN Foundation.
