Not many are able to come to terms with the disappointment of the eviction from a contest, especially when it is a reality show broadcasted electronically and digitally.

For those with fragile minds, the taunts and criticisms that accompany being ousted can lead to a career swansong. But one of the evicted talents at the 2021 Nigerian Idol, Christian Joshua Deberechi better known as Jojobaby seems to be using the disappointment as a launch pad to a glittering career on the Nigerian music scene.

Jojobaby

As one of Nigeria’s fast rising music talents, Jojobaby shortly after his eviction from the Nigerian Idol show, sealed a recording deal with Dream Music Group, which described his strides as nothing short of a prodigy destined for a space at the top in the music industry.

He followed up his record deal with the release of a single titled Depth, an emotive love song filled with promises never to stop loving and staying together forever and thereafter an Extended Play (EP) dubbed Obsession, which consists of seven tracks.

With a voice and sound that reminds listeners of Apollo, the Greek god of music, and can make one want to fall in love, his Downtown, another track off the EP, is gaining wide positive reviews and acceptance among music lovers.

The track, which was rated number one on Apple Music Shazam App, has also grown to become a TikTok rave, with over 1,200,000 views in 3 weeks.

Speaking about his career the singer said, “I am grateful to God for the improvement in my career. First for my single, then an album that is putting me in the faces and minds of Nigerian music lovers. I really appreciate the Dream Music Group, without them I wouldn’t have come this far.”

“The group has given me a platform to improve and sell my talent. My goal has always been the global stage. It doesn’t come easy, and talent alone is never enough; it requires a lot of work, dedication, commitment, and a desire to always become better.

“I am a firm believer in hard work and I have never doubted my talent. I know the future holds a lot of good in stock for me, and I am ready to do what it takes for Nigeria and the world to see the best of me,” he added.

Going by his increasing wave of acceptance, Jojobaby is an example of how rookies can ride on their lows to shoot for their dreams and make their marks in the entertainment industry.
