Frontline musicians, Ahmed Ololade, well known as Asake; Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel and Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, who is known by the moniker Chike, have been unveiled as the latest brand ambassadors of telecommunications giant, Globacom.
The rave-making music artistes were unveiled at a colourful ceremony held in the telco’s corporate headquarters, Mike Adenuga Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos. Their unveiling was part of activities to mark the telecom service provider’s 20 years anniversary and landmark service in the country and across the continent.
Speaking at the event, the company’s Director of Creativity and Innovations, Chuka Obi, said the appointment of the music stars is very much part of the company’s tradition as “we believe the strength of a nation lies in the ability and potentials of the youths.
“With the appointment of these new ambassadors to project the power of youth and enterprise, and how much they can achieve with the right focus, passion and dedication that can come from seeing others who have succeeded. These three celebrities, as ambassadors, the best of Nigerian youth are projected as role models for younger people who are ardently striving to succeed.”
He added that in a time when good role models and mentors are hard to find, the objective of signing the artistes is to inspire the teeming youth to aspire toward realising their ambitions by looking up to the ambassadors as mentors.
“At every point in time, we have people that best represent what the time is about. And it best those people represent your own values as a brand. Asake, Kizz Daniel and Chike are celebrity role models who have gone through the grind to stand on the highest pedestal of their dreams.
“When you look at the situation with how the youth need a lot of inspiration in Nigeria today, knowing that if you just keep going at what you’re doing, even when things don’t go exactly as you want them to go, you keep going, it will happen. When you know what is right and do it, you can get it done your way.
“So, if you look at these three people they have done it in their own way. They are completely different. Their music is different, their values are different, but their success is not questionable. And that is actually what Glo stands for,” Obi stated.
Congratulating the new ambassadors, Globacom called on young people to try to emulate the stars who kept their ambitions alive till they achieved success rather than allow their dreams to die.
“Being represented by these celebrities is our way of inspiring a whole generation of young people with vision that can do better and achieve more without losing hope along the way, even when confronted with challenges. The introduction of these three celebrities is additional evidence of our dedication to the advancement of the Nigerian entertainment industry and the empowerment of Nigerians,” Obi said.
Reiterating the telco’s avowed commitment to keep supporting the entertainment industry, the director of creativity and innovation stated that the industry has offered so many opportunities to showcase Nigeria to the rest of the world and improve lives.
On the duration of the contract, Obi said, “we make our contracts yearly and continuously renewed. We never sign contracts that enslave people because it is a partnership, we are working together. So, the journey starts now and it lasts for at least 12 months. And as we move on, maybe longer, but the important thing is that this 12 months, making people that watch, people that see and people that hear understand that whatever it is they are into, if you do what’s right and keep at it, with Glo on their side they are unlimited.”
Commending Glo, Asake said, “when I was in secondary school, anytime I’m going back home in Lagos Island then, I will look at the billboard and see a group of people on the screen, I will ask myself, are you sure of what you can do and this will get to your turn. I don’t really want to say too much of how I feel or how this is coming to me. This actually means a lot to me. And it means a lot to my family too. Thank you so much, Glo.”
