Ifeanyi ‘Ikenga’ Gbulie

Core Nollywood was thrown into deep mourning during the week with the news that veteran Enugu-based actor, Ifeanyi Gbulie, who is popular as Ikenga, had passed on.

The actor, who is also famous as Elder Danda, reportedly passed on after a prolonged battle with stroke.

Gbulie, who is famous for playing the role of an elder or deprived father in most Nollywood films produced in the Southeast, has been bedridden for several months as a result of stroke.

A source close to the family said the actor, who is a delight to see in movies, was picking up until he died on him on December 13.

Regarded for his humility, discipline and dedication to the craft, movies that benefited from his steady portrayal of roles include Market Seller, End of Dream and Under Fire.

Gbulie finds a place on the long list of actors who passed on this year, such as Bambino Amaechina, Okwy Chukwujekwu, Chike Osuji, Kasimu Yero and Olumide Bakare.
