The yearly celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the Lutful-lahi International has culminated in massive spiritual gatherings, drawing crowds of over 10,000 and connecting a global membership through live broadcasts.
The central theme of this year’s Maolud Nabiyy celebration was an emphasis on ethical leadership and personal integrity, with the organisation’s founder arguing that a leader’s greatest tool is their own conduct.
At the 2025 edition of the event, founder of Lutful-lahi International, Sheikh Muhammad Robiu Abdul Malik delivered a powerful message about the true nature of authority, stressing that guiding a community must start with leading by example.
Sheikh Abdul Malik issued a stark warning to those in positions of power, asserting that for any leader to be effective, they must demonstrate patience and crucially be a living model of the teachings they preach.
He drew a clear parallel with the conduct of all divine messengers, noting that a leader who condemns illicit acts, such as the consumption of alcohol or fornication, must themselves be utterly clean of it.
“Prophet Muhammad’s exemplary leadership qualities, combined with his dedication to the well-being of his community, continue to inspire Muslims and leaders till today,” he said.
He further detailed the Prophet’s governance as one defined by unwavering justice for all people and profound compassion.
The Sheikh also highlighted the Prophet’s practice of consultation (Shura) to empower his followers and his demonstration of remarkable strategic vision and resilience in the face of adversity, affirming these qualities offer an enduring model for leaders globally.
He noted that the society has been observing the yearly celebration since 1960, framing the Maolud as an essential gathering that fosters togetherness and reminds attendees of the Prophet’s comprehensive message and the foundational virtue of exemplary conduct.
Vice President of Lutful-lahi International, Abdul Ganiu Agbaje, underscored the spiritual benefit of the devotion. “The more you hear about the Prophet, the more you love him and the more you understand Almighty Allah and know how to worship Him,” he remarked.
A member of the Elder Council, Alhaji Hamid Abdussalaam Bolaji, explained that the yearly event served a dual purpose as a moment of collective reflection and prayer.
“The essence of the celebration is to pray for ourselves, our family and the nation,” he explained, expressing confidence that the supplications offered during this blessed time would be accepted.
