It was an exciting moment for professional and emerging videographers and photographers within and around Abuja as Nikon Nigeria thrilled them at an exhibition.

The summit, which was a follow-up to the Lagos edition culminated in capacity building for creative artists, who were mainly youth younger. It provided the opportunity for the established and upcoming photographers and videographers to intimate with the Nikon brand, as well as learn about the usage of its products, especially the Nikon Mirrorless Camera Z50.

Theme: “Moving from Photography to Videography”, the master class was handled by world-renowned Nigerian photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi and popular Dubai based wedding videographer, Kelvin Montalbo respectively. Amadi-Obi, who delved into cinematography from photography about seven years ago, revealed how his first profession as a photographer informed his decision to explore other forms of creativity using the camera.

“With the kind of technology we have in our hands these days, a professional still photography camera has been imbued with the ability to shoot good video, it will be a pity to be with such equipment and not make full use of it.“I also realized that if I needed to teach people about my craft, I had to do that through video. So, those are some of the reasons I started exploring video,” he said.

Commenting on the summit, the Managing Director, Nikon Middle East and Africa, Narendra Menon, said it was a knowledge enhancement project, adding that it was aimed at introducing the Nikon brand and the Nikon School, established to improve the knowledge and skills of participants in photo and video, to the Abuja community. He also disclosed that similar capacity building summits would be organized in Abuja on quarterly basis with effect from next year.

The high point of the event however was a video presentation by Kelechi, which excited participants. Meanwhile, several items distributed to participants while gifts of cameras were also given out to participants through a raffle draw.
