NUC okays 15 new academic programmes for FUOYE

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of 18 new academic programmes for Federal University, Oye- Ekiti (FUOYE).

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of 18 new academic programmes for Federal University, Oye- Ekiti (FUOYE). With this addition the school now has a total of 46 academic programmes.

The VC, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, told The Guardian, yesterday in Akure that NUC, in a letter dated November 14, 2016 and signed by its Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, approved the courses.

According to him, the approval followed the successful evaluation visit carried out by panels of experts to the university with a view to assessing the human and material resources available for the establishment of the new programmes.

“I am directed to inform you that the management committee during the 504th meeting held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, considered and approved the establishment of the full time mode of the following programmes to be run in the campus of the university only, effective from 2016/2017 session,” the letter read in part.

Soremekun listed the programmes to include: Public Administration, Business Administration, Accounting, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Library and Information Science, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Mass Communication, and Banking and Finance.

Others are: Agricultural Science Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, English Education, Business Education, Education Management, Criminology and Security Studies, Political Science and History and International Studies.

The VC noted that the university management has taken urgent steps to provide more human and material resources for the development and growth of the approved programmes.
