Gospel concerts made a big splash in Lagos through a show tagged Unrestricted Praise hosted by a leading musician, Bidemi Olaoba, and featuring other top acts. Some of the guest artists include Tope Alabi, Beejay Sax, Eben, Sammie Okposo, and a special guest appearance by Pastor Leke Adeboye among others.

Unrestricted Praise was a hybrid of virtual and live music event as it was beamed lives to a large audience across the world on TV and YouTube right from a location in Lagos. This was made possible with the collaboration of a leading Christian channel, Dove Television, which is available on satellite television such as GoTV and DSTV among others.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the success, Bidemi Olaoba who hails from Ikale in Okitipupa Local Council recalled that a series of virtual concerts preceded the physical event.

“We started Unrestricted Praises during the critical lockdown period where economic and physical activities were shut down. The whole world was under the siege of the COVID-19 virus pandemic. The lord inspired us to start praising him even in the midst of these things because we have the mandate to praise God in All things. Many said that the year 2020 was unpleasant but for those of us who believe, we have witnessed pleasant surprises and favour in all ramifications.”

Guest musicians with full compliments of their band bestrode the stage and churned out powerful medleys of praise and worship sessions including some of their anthems. A highpoint for the host was the premiere of his new single entitled Akanchawa, which he performed among his cocktail of songs.

For the Economics graduate of the University of Lagos, the music stage has been his playing ground for over a decade rising from his roots as a chorister in Christ Apostolic Church. His music has evolved over the years making him a sought-after singer in Nigeria, Europe, and the rest of Africa. His role models in music include Tope Alabi, Ebenezer Obey, and Don Moen.

“My music is gospel highlife which is heavily influenced by Fuji. I do both high and low tempo music. Through music, I have been opportune to connect with audiences in different nations. I have also been blessed to meet great men of God like my father in the lord, Daddy Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). The journey here has been a long and labourous one. Indeed, I’m a living proof that God shows mercy,” he said.
