Saturday, April 2, a serene hangout in the heart of highbrow Ikoyi, Lagos was beehive of activities as leading world’s premier luxury whisky, Chivas Regal, hosted the advertising industry creative innovator and entrepreneur, Steve Babaeko, CEO of X3M Group.

Tagged Win the Right Way, the event was a one-of-a-kind gastronomy experience, which had live music performances and speeches echoed the 20th anniversary celebration of power strides of Babaeko in advertising industry.

It had in attendance who-is-who in the advertising industry, entertainment and corporate world, coming out to fete the creative innovation and indomitable spirit of enterprise and conquest of Babaeko, who through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives has impacted communities and schools through renovations at Opebi Junior High School, Awuse Estate, Opebi, and the Special Correctional Centres for Boys in Oregun; donation of ICT equipment to Oregun Senior High School, Oregun and Community High School, Wasimi, Maryland, all in Ikeja, Lagos.

‘Taste of Luxury’ is Chivas brand’s effort to showcase its attributes of connoisseur, and Steve Babaeko is seen as an unquestionable embodiment of the ‘brand’s character. He equally, demonstrates what the luxury whisky stands for, and exemplifies the ‘Success Tastes Better When Shared’ slogan of the Win the Right Way Chivas campaign.

The evening saw guests in standing ovation for the Babaeko’s, with some advertising industry practitioners show a sign of doffing their hats to the creative genius in Steve Babaeko and his X3M Group family, which story is testament that indigenous agencies can rival their international counterparts in telling brand stories with vigour.

From a young copywriter at MC&A, Saatchi & Saatchi, Babaeko, developed his creative reputation that help moved to Prima Garnet Ogilvy and later 141 Worldwide, where he was Nigeria’s most celebrated business/creative director before his resignation in 2012 to start his X3M Group, an advertising agency, which has grown to be one of the fore-runners in the Nigerian advertising industry.
