All is set for ‘Tales of Lagos Corper’, which holds on the March 28 at the Our Place Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos. Themed, ‘Against Depression’, the event will feature activities such as drama, dance, comedy, spoken word, art exhibition, comedy and music performances.

According to the organisers, “Tales of a Lagos corper is a variety of shows that have over the years impacted and helped fight depression. It is also a platform that helps young people build confidence in themselves as well as enhancing their creativity.

While speaking on the theme, ‘Against Depression’, he said, “depression is a significant public health problem, which has a prevalence rate of 3.9 per cent. Research has showed that about 7 million Nigerians currently suffer from it. Several studies conducted among different populations have however reported a much higher prevalence. Studies conducted in Nigeria have reported the prevalence of depression among young adults, elderly and those in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp 25 per cent, 26.2 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.”

“The event will create platforms for many to show their talents. Apart fighting against depression. The event will be used for local and international production companies to see the Tales of Lagos Corps members as opportunity to tap into the talentof corps members while telling our stories and promoting gifted members.

“Tales of Lagos Corper’ is also aimed at promoting raw talents in Nigeria, give hope to young acts, encourage and interested in talents that are unique and can be adapted to.

We look forward to receiving entries from upcoming acts, musicians, comedians and performers who are ready to think out-of-the-box, showcase and eager to present works.”
