Unlike others states that are presently reaping the fruits of the bailout fund, the reverse as observed seems to be the case in Taraba state as the said bailout fund is yet to be received by the state government.

The situation in the state is no doubt becoming worse as workers have to stay for extra weeks before collecting salary of the previous month

As the time of filing this report, civil servants in the state are not sure when they will collect their September salary.

Some workers who bared their minds want the federal government to as a matter of urgency come to the aide of the state government by releasing the bailout fund.

Citing the low key in which the just celebrated Sallah was marked in the state, majority of the workers who would not want their names mentioned, believed that the state would have been financially buoyant but for the lukewarm attitudes of the immediate past administration.

Should the federal government fail to release the said fund, the dream of the state government employing more hands in the civil service, they opined, would not only be a mirage but would as well lead to the retrenchment of workers.

Some residents aired their views wondered if the state would actually make judiciously use of the fund if finally made available to the state.

According to Uwa Maina, “ I am not a government worker. I have not at any time benefited from what they are doing. Why are they crying out now that the money is not there.

“Before now, did ordinary people like us know when there is money in the state? They are now crying and want us to sympathize with them because the past government according to them emptied the treasury.”

“ My brother, I don’t care if they give them bailout fund or not. So to hell with them and their bailout fund.”

Also speaking, Mrs Becky O. A, who is the CEO of C-Bight Foods, believed that if the said bailout is release and enough fund is in circulation in the state, business would strive.

Sad that business activities have been at a standstill, she aligned with those soliciting for the federal government to urgently assist the state government as that, according to her “ would put smiles on the face of the people, and business would be moving as expected.”

Various traders at the Jalingo Main market, expressed dismay at the way and manner buyers have been patronizing them without paying for the goods they purchased.
