Former Benin Technical College student, Christabel Chukwuonye, has been appointed captain of Nigeria’s 14-player U-19 Women’s cricket team for the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Division 1 Qualifier in Tanzania.

The tournament, scheduled for August 30 to September 5, 2026, will see Nigeria’s Junior Female YellowGreens battle other African teams for a place at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Chukwuonye, an all-rounder, emerged as one of the key players in the squad following her impressive performances at the international level.

She was part of Nigeria’s U-19 World Cup team and further underlined her quality at the 2026 Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, where she claimed 17 wickets in nine matches.
