Enoh Ekong: May 21, 1958 — April 30, 2020

Enoh Ekong began her life’s journey on May 21, 1958. She was born in Surulere, Lagos to the late Jonah Udoh and Glory Eyeyen Ekong. Enoh was the first girl of her seven siblings, one of which, Anthony, had preceded her in death. She had a strong spiritual belief system and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age, at Bible Believer’s Church Ministry (BBCM). She attended the BBCM for many years and served as church’s usher ‘till her death.

Enoh attended Ladi-Lak Institute, Yaba, and Methodist Girls’ High School, Yaba. She later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English from University of Ife. Enoh was a vibrant force and a brilliant presenter, whose story is inspiring and entertaining. She was an innovator, whose radiant and energetic presence was felt by all who were privileged to know and learn from her.

Providing everyone that she met with an infectious and genuine smile and aggressive hug of sincerity and love is how Enoh will be mostly remembered. Though very humble, Enoh loved life and did everything big, from entertaining, travel, her career and even marriage!

Enoh had a zeal for helping others by greeting you with a warm and sincere smile, letting no minute go without a beautiful plan. Her organisation and time management skills were unmatched!

She lived an amazing life and was always intentional and purposeful in every aspect of it. If you were a recipient of one of her hugs and myriad of kisses, then, you knew you were just given a gift like no other.

Enoh loved her family with every fibre of her being, and nothing brought her more excitement than having them fill her home at anytime, especially for her annual Christmas breakfast or birthdays of nieces and nephews, filling her home with three generations of love.

She made no distinction between kin and friend. Everyone was loved. She was known for her great love of cooking and family gatherings and for making connections in the lives of all that crossed her path. Enoh loved to have a good time. She loved life and to entertain and you could often catch her literally laughing out loud!

We are not hear to mourn her, but to reflect on her amazing life. This is the home going celebration of an exceptional sister, aunt, friend, woman of fashion and child in Christ.

On Thursday, April 30, 2020, the Lord saw that she was getting tired and said: “Come home (Enoh) and take your rest.” Do not think of her as gone away for her eternal journey has just begun and as she looks back, she does so, with no regrets.

Enoh leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish her memory: Her son, David, friend, inspiration and joy of 30 years; her ‘twinny’ Emeh (Emy), who actually is her twin sister, who were also best friends. Two brothers, Sami Ekong, Horgan Ekong; two sisters, Victoria Ajala, Marion Clementina Ekong; in-laws; Lekan, Wole, Adeleke and Alice; nieces: Amber, Melody, Joshua, Richard, Emaette, Emmanuel, Samuel; grand nephew and nieces: Adekore, Ademuayo, Adetuntun, David, Isaac Sijuwade; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends, specifically besties, Anne Agunbiade (CNO), Raymond, GAM and her countless and grateful friends who adored her.
