… Announces Registration Of Personnel In Hospitality, Tourism Sector

Director General (DG) of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Dr. Abisoye Fagade, has said tourism is a social bitcoin everyone needs to tap into as it not only boosts the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) of the country but also creates a thriving opportunity for other sectors as well as  provide jobs for a lot of people.

The new NIHOTOUR boss said this during a briefing in Lagos recently to announce a free national registration of all personnel working in the tourism industry in Nigeria from December 1, 2024 to January 15, 2025.

Fagade who raised the need for the sector to be organised, said, “the ideology of this registration is to have a data of all hospitality personnel at all levels in the country. The portal for registration opened on December 1, 2024 and for a month and half, the registration is free after which it would be paid for. I am starting my tenure with registration of personnel in the industry to restore standard and sanity to the industry. We want to build a strong structure that would be difficult to discontinue when I leave.”

Speaking on the mandate of NIHOTOUR, Fagade said, “we want to identify, register, certify, train and retrain all the personnel in the hospitality and tourism industry. We would unveil other activities of the institute as we proceed but let’s begin with registration of all personnel. The segment needs organisation and that’s where we are starting from. In my four years, we will ensure to bring standard and sanity to the industry.”
