To Revamp Travels And Tourism In Both Countries
No doubt, the war between Ukraine and Russia has placed travels and tourism in both countries on hold, especially with the endless bloodshed, which has made the destinations dreaded for travelers.

Based on this unbecoming situation, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has said that his country’s goal is to stop the bloodshed in the Russia-Ukraine war as soon as possible despite hurdles.

Erdogan said this during the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan on Thursday October 13, 2022.

He emphasised that a fair peace in the Ukraine-Russia war can be achieved only through diplomacy and reiterated Türkiye’s efforts for regional peace and stability. “Our goal is to continue the momentum gained despite the difficulties in the field and to stop the bloodshed as soon as possible.”

Erdogan who noted that Türkiye’s intensive efforts with the United Nations and the warring parties to curb the negative effects of the conflict have been appreciated by the entire world, also revealed that the Istanbul grain deal reached in July and the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine in September are both “tangible achievements” in this direction.

The President who revealed that there would be a bilateral tie with Putin later on the sidelines of the summit said: “I say that a just peace can be achieved through diplomacy, that there will be no winners in war and no losers in a just peace.”

Erdogan, however, said, “We are going through a period in which the balances in the world have changed and we face serious tests in many fields. Threats such as Islamophobia and xenophobia are added to this. The structure that cares about the happiness of a handful of minorities who ignore the overwhelming majority of the world’s population still remains – a new understanding that is just and equitable should shape it.”

Türkiye is one of the most active countries working to ensure a permanent cease-fire between Ukraine and Russia. Its delicately balanced act of assuming a role as a mediator by keeping communication channels with both warring sides open provides a glimmer of hope in diplomatic efforts to find a solution and achieve peace in the Ukraine/Russia crisis. With its unique position of having friendly relations with both Russia and Ukraine, Türkiye has won widespread praise for its push to end the war.
