Olaitan Tajudeen-Salaudeen is a Director at both the Radisson Blu Hotel Lagos Ikeja, and the owning company Avalon Intercontinental Nigeria Limited, a company reputably placed in the hospitality and construction industries. In this interview, she spoke about the hotel and its quest for effective service delivery
Could you tell us about Radisson Blu Hotel Lagos Ikeja?
This is an exquisite five star hotel, stylish, lush and conveniently located at 38/40 Isaac John Street Ikeja GRA Lagos Nigeria. We help our guests discover rich local experiences with every stay, while we feed their curiosity, fuel their imaginations and excite their senses.
What do you consider as the unique selling point of the hotel?
Guests always look for space to play with and we have deliberately designed spacious rooms with an approximate size of 72m2 therefore meeting the target need of guests. Our guests’ needs, wants and whims are always at the forefront of our minds, which is why we have gone and continue to go the extra mile to provide world-class services, facilities, space and amenities. We are a one-stop shop for everything our guests can ever dream.
What are the facilities available here?
The hotel has stylish communal public spaces with convenient power outlets; 155 spaciously designed bedrooms and suites displayed across seven floors; eight meeting rooms compassing 7,158m2 ft. of total meeting space with state of the art Audio- Visual technology. An All Day-Dining Restaurant (Iyeru-Okin) and our Specialty Restaurant, CUT with a fantastic bar at the ground floor serving all range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We also have a well-equipped Fitness Centre, swimming pool and our newest Five Star Amani Spa facility.
How has it been managing the facility?
The hospitality industry is a service driven one with countless opportunities to deliver customer satisfaction, striving to render effective service is key and it is our utmost desire to see that every guest we host has a positive reason to return.
What are the challenges involved in running hotel in Nigeria?
Every industry is fraught with challenges, especially in our beloved country. However, we consider challenges as opportunities to deliver supreme service; we thereby pride ourselves in leaning into every challenge that comes our way and working tirelessly to find a solution. We are firm believers in the saying, ‘every problem has a solution, and if there is no solution then there is no problem.’
How have you managed to sustain the business and maintain your standards?
We have a culture belief that sets us aside, with a team of remarkable persons and our ‘YES I CAN’ spirit; we have been able to maintain an outstanding standard, which sustains the business through the ebb and flow of industry challenges. Aside from our in-house winning team, we are also very fortunate to work closely with our owning company, Avalon Intercontinental Nigeria Limited, who have over 20 years’ experience in the Hospitality industry. The collaborative work has ensured that business and standards are always set and met above what the industry dictates.
Meanwhile, our owning company Avalon Intercontinental has added two more Radisson Brands to their portfolio; the Radisson Hotel Ikeja GRA and Park Inn by Radisson Victoria Island and we excited to announce this as we look forward to giving customers the incredible standards that they have come to expect of us.
