Nigerian Afrobeats and Grammy award–winning star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, well known as Burna Boy, made history again on Friday, April 18, by becoming the first African artiste to headline a sold-out show at the iconic Stade De France in Paris, drawing a massive crowd of over 80,698 fans.
This monumental event marked a significant milestone for African music, solidifying Burna Boy’s position as a global superstar. In his usual trailblazing manner, the global music superstar delivered a high-energy performance, blending Afro-fusion, reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop with deeply African roots.
He swept through a set-list of his biggest hits, including City Boys, Last Last, and Ye, with the audience singing along to every word. The concert featured a stellar lineup of guests, showcasing Burna Boy’s pan-African and international reach.
As the first African artiste to headline a show in the stadium, the night proved why he remains one of the most powerful voices in global music today. The show kicked off with an electrifying performance by Burna Boy’s sister, Jehovah-Nissi Ogulu, known professionally as Nissi, and Adedamola Adefolahan better by the stage name Fireboy DML, who lit the stage with their hit single, Nobody. Their powerful performance got the crowd on their feet and talking all over social media.
From the moment Odogwu hitmaker stepped on stage, the energy was sky-high, and fans were taken on a musical journey through his biggest hits, storytelling, and captivating stage presence. The African Giant and Twice As Tall crooner also surprised fans by bringing out Shallipopi, and together, they performed a remix of the latter’s viral hit, Laho, a moment that set the internet on fire.
Burna Boy also welcomed French-Haitian singer, Joé Dwèt Filé, who joined him on stage to perform their collaboration 4 Kampe II, and later the French-Congolese artiste, Dadju, to the crowd’s roaring excitement. Dadju brought his unique sound to the stage, further showcasing the diversity of the event.
He then brought out UK rapper Dave with whom he performed their hit single Location together, sending the stadium into a frenzy. Each appearance added a unique flavour to the show, showcasing Burna Boy’s global reach and deep musical connections.

Just days after the historic filling of the 80,000-capacity Stade De France in Paris, the 33-year-old made another history on Monday, April 21 by selling out The Co-op Manchester, England’s biggest indoor Arena, attracting over 23,500 fans.
The concert was bombarded with an electrifying, high-energy performance that reinforces Burna Boy’s global prominence, as he thrilled fans with a rendition of the hit records with which he has built one of the most enviable touring repertoires for an African pop star.
It marked Burna Boy’s sole UK arena performance of the year and formed part of his ‘I Told Them’ tour, a significant milestone in his career, named after his 2023 album, which was a major success and a turning point in his career.
The audience was treated to a masterclass in stagecraft, featuring dynamic visuals, pyrotechnics, dancers, and a carefully curated setlist that showcased highlights from his expansive discography. Like his show in Paris, the African Giant hitmaker brought on stage Nigerian Gen Z sensation Shallipopi, with whom he performed the remix of his single Laho, which is quickly becoming a global viral song.
Also joining him on stage was Joé Dwèt Filé to perform their collaboration 4 Kampe II after they both performed at the Stade De France. Expressing heartfelt appreciation to his UK fans, the hitmaker said, “Co-op Live was a movie last night! You all brought that big stadium energy and mad vibes from start to finish. My only UK arena show, and we turned it into something unforgettable”.
Following the Manchester concert, Burna Boy on Thursday, April 24, returned to the stage as a headliner at the Jazz & Heritage Festival New Orleans. 2025 is already off to an eventful start for the superstar, who has announced a new album titled No Sign of Weakness, his eighth LP which is expected to be released later in the year.
