It was an exciting sight watching Mavin Records sound whiz, Andre Vibez, son of late music legend Sir Victor Uwaifo, clinched the Don Jazzy New Discovery Producer of the Year award at the just concluded Beatz Awards, in Lagos. With his new win, the record producer also got a cash prize of N1 million.

Andre Vibez, who is also an in-house producer with Mavin Records, bested other producers such as London, Ajimovoix Drums, among others, for his stellar work on Ladipoe’s Feelings featuring Buju.

Interestingly, Don Jazzy flicked a surprise at the event by gifting the runner-up, Ajimovoix Drums, another N1 million as a consolation prize, culminating his total donations at N2 million that night.

In a chat with Weekend Beats, Andre Vibez said, “I feel great, I feel honored, I feel like all my hard work has started to pay off, and I’m also grateful for the nomination from the Beatz awards organisers. And then it validates everything I’ve been doing for so long”.

The Beatz Award also presented a special recognition to media mogul, Seyi Tinubu, as well as entertainers Kaffy and Harrysong.

Meanwhile, Rhythm FM’s Quincy Jonze clinched a landed property courtesy of Pazino Homes and Gardens after she picked up the award for OAP of the Year, while Rexxie made a big win becoming the Producer of the Year for his work on Ko Por Ke. Dindu netted the award for Best Visual Director for his visual offering on Big Thug Boys.

The Beatz Award recognises Nigerian sound engineers, producers, video directors and other technical talents for their stellar work during a year in review.
