Malta Guinness Game On Ends In Grand Style
THE first season of the Malta Guinness-powered reality series, Game On, came to an end on Sunday as the grand finale held to determine which passion best fuels the rise of Naija. The show kicked off with an opening round of jokes and banter between popular humour merchants, Owen Gee and Lepacious Bose, who kept the audience entertained before the host for the night, comedian Gordons arrived.
After a one-minute debate by the team captains, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, fashion designer and Daniel Amokachi, Nigeria ex-international, on the superiority of their individual passions, there was a recap of memories of the contestants in the house and their tasks. The four evictees were brought on stage again, wishing the finalists luck in their future endeavours and thanking Malta Guinness for the opportunity.
The night packed full of entertaining activities, from a football-inspired dance rendition, to a runway show that showcased the elegant designs Team Fashion. Delectable R&B songstress Niyola, set guest in party mood with enthralling performance of some of her hit tracks including T’O Bad, while Alobam crooner, Phyno got the entire audience rising to their feet, singing and dancing along and breaking into applause for the rapper after his performance.
Highpoint of the night was the announcement of Olumide Ajibolade of Team Football as winner over Henrietta of Team Fashion. While Team Football won by 52 per cent votes, Team Fashion polled 48 per cent in the finally outcome of voting by Nigerians on Facebook and via SMS across the nation.
Ajibolade, who by virtue of his victory will embark on a trip to England for a series of trainings and coaching classes was also presented with a cheque for the sum of N2 million by the Marketing Manager, Malta Guinness, Uche Onwudiwe.
“I don’t know what to say. This is unbelievable and I can’t explain the feeling I’m feeling now. I’m even happier because my colleagues now have their own opportunities too,” said the excited Ajibolade.
Guest celebrities at the event include former Super Eagles defender now a clergyman, Pastor Taribo West; Waje, Omawumi, Joseph Benjamin, and Noble Igwe among others. With DJ Xclusive behind the wheels of steel and spinning some of naija’s best of music; the audience shook their body and party all night.
