With filming completed both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, and post-production now in its final stage, film production company Omilan Productions Ltd has said that it’s set to release the remake of the 1986 Yoruba classic, Eegunleti.
Originally produced in 1986 by Moses Omilani, Eegunleti was a cultural landmark of its era. Shot on celluloid, the film stood out for its artistic depth and technical innovation.
Nearly four decades later, the epic film returns to the big screen under the creative direction of Oluyinka Omilani, a filmmaker like his father and head of Omilan Productions Ltd.
According to him, the remake of Eegunleti features a stellar cast including Lateef Adedimeji, Omowunmi Dada, Atlanta Bridget, Uzor Arukwe, Dele Odule, Femi Branch, Yinka Quadri, Femi Adebayo, Ibrahim Chata, Bimbo Akintola, Jide Kosoko, Akin Lewis, Moji Afolayan, Razak Olayiwola, and in a special appearance, the original ‘Eegunleti’ himself, Moses Omilani.
Co-produced by Oluyinka Omilani and Wale Muraina, and directed by Oluyinka Omilani, the film is a multi-generational legacy, carefully preserving the story’s cultural roots while reintroducing it to new audiences worldwide.
