Toke Makinwa gives insight into BBNaija S9 housemate in Showmax’s The Buzz Conversation
Celebrity host, Toke Makinwa, has described the ongoing Big Brother Naija(BBNaija) season 9 as tricky, with no housemate with a clear edge to go home with the N100 million prize.
However, Toke Makinwa finds Nelly, the Kays, and the Mbadiwe twins as good vibes that are delivering in their game.
Toke who returned as host of The Buzz, revealed that the BBNaija season 9 coming up with housemates in pairs has changed the game.
The Buzz is a show that takes Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) fans into the in-depth behind-the-scenes, juicy and not-seen moments in the show. It dissects BBnaija for the fans and the housemates.
In July, Showmax announced the return of the exclusive BBNaija talk show The Buzz, hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa. The Buzz was premiered on Thursday, August 1, 2024, with new episodes every Thursday and the live, 24/7 BBNaija Season 9 show, which is available to Showmax customers in Africa.
On The Buzz, Toke, alongside celebrity guests and top BBNaija show commentators, will dissect all the moments in this season of the reality show, giving their candid opinions and predictions in a no-holds-barred talk session.
Speaking with The Guardian about her coming back as host of the show, Makinwa said: “I never left; the show didn’t happen in 2023, we took a year break and we are back. I have always done this from the inception; the Buzz is one of the amazing crazy rides fans want to watch to the end. There is always constant back and forth between me and the fans of Big Brother Naija. Some people are agitated and feel strongly about their favourite housemates.”
When asked about how she’s handling the fans and what is new about the new season, she said: “The fans are very opinionated and they get offended when you are talking about their fave, which is normal. The duo effect is wild; we see people who came in pairs and we thought they had a stronger bond as friends before they came to the house but they later appear like total strangers. I can’t wait to see how the season panned out. We have housemates who have made their mark and the people who are still opening up, there are pairs where one person is more energetic and we feel some members of some of the teams are better suited with opposite teams.
“You are carrying your entire team and if you Lose guard, your entire team is gone. The fact that the Kays are both married, they are great vibes. The Mbadiwe Twins who are socialites have made their mark too.
Speaking on the shocking eviction of the Ndi Nne (Chinne and Nne) Pair, she said: “I saw their eviction coming but I was hoping that they would give them some time before they put them up for eviction. I feel that they are a fantastic duo.
“I find Nelly fascinating; I think she is a strong character. I like that she’s honest and she’s up to a good game. I like the Kays because I feel it’s tricky to be newly married and come and throw it in front of Nigerians who are highly opinionated.
I think Zion and Chinwe are the most romantic pair in the house.
Commenting on the Saturday Night Party, she said: “The Saturday party is chilling but I want to see more vibe.
