Prominent Nigerian-Canadian chanteuse, Michelle Akanbi, known in music circles as Tome, has solidified her love-dominated artistry, with a new 10-track studio album dubbed, Love Over Vanity.

And within the soundpiece, the JUNO awards winner, delves into love terrains, with soul-lifting pontifications on self-love and romantic experiences.

Recall that the Afro-RnB singer soared in the limelight last year with her major win at the JUNO Awards where her single, I Pray (featuring Jamaican superstar Sean Kingston) clinched the Reggae Recording of the year award. She also dominated the Nigerian showbiz space, with various live performances, last December across Nigeria, London and Canada.

In Love Over Vanity, Tome goes deeper with her falsetto-fuelled melodies, creating soothing songs with her high-pitched vocals. The record pens with the Yung Willis-produced track, Nobody Else, setting the tone for the record’s endless soiree of love adulations.

On the record, Tome shines her Afro-fusion prowess, with several Amapiano bops. She taps the Mozambique sensations, Yaba Buluku Boyz, on the hit record Hold You, where she professes her love-themed expositions, over the signature log-drums.

Tome also had heavyweight music whiz like Shizzi, Zan, Sebastien Graux, Que Beat, AJ, Michelin Shin, Ear Drumz, Louddaa, LT Moe, and Legendury Beatz, creating a vibrant record, with influences from Afro-pop, Afro-RnB, and Amapiano.

While the album shines for its infectious groove, Tome’s consistency with her poetic lyricism, as well as a stellar content direction, gives this record the roses it deserves. Love Over Vanity is available across digital streaming platforms.
