A socio-political students’ group, Yayi-Kudirat Students Campaign Organisation (YAKSCO), has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and Senator Solomon Adeola and Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun for the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
The group announced the endorsements during a briefing with journalists in Abeokuta, saying they followed consultations with student leaders, campus structures and other stakeholders across the state.
Convener of the organisation, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, said the group’s decision was influenced by what he described as the impact of the Tinubu administration’s policies on students, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative.
Uthman said the group would mobilise students and young voters across the state to support Tinubu’s re-election, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms required continuity.
He also described the proposed All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket of Adeola and Adegunwa-Balogun as a combination of legislative experience and corporate exposure capable of consolidating the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration.
“Leadership is not merely about promises; it is about capacity, experience, measurable interventions and the ability to translate opportunities into tangible benefits,” he said.
The organisation commended the Abiodun administration for what it described as laying an industrial foundation for Ogun State, urging the next administration to maintain continuity in ongoing policies and developmental projects.
Uthman said the proposed pairing of Adeola and Adegunwa-Balogun would provide a “balanced partnership” capable of promoting innovation, economic growth and youth development.
He added that YAKSCO had activated its grassroots structures across tertiary institutions in the state to promote voter education, voter registration and peaceful civic engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
