In the ever-evolving landscape of Nigerian music, a new voice is emerging with a sound that seamlessly blends African rhythms with soulful melodies.
Nwala Anthony, better known as Whereistoney, is making waves in the Afro-fusion scene with his deeply expressive music and unique artistry.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Whereistoney’s love for music began at an early age. His uncle introduced him to the Irish R&B boy band Westlife, and their melodies became the soundtrack of his childhood. Singing along to their songs, even in the shower, ignited his passion for music, setting him on a journey of artistic discovery. Over time, he found inspiration in the works of Wande Coal, Burna Boy, Omah Lay, Lil Durk, and OGC Maraji—artists who shaped his musical style and storytelling approach.
Now, Whereistoney is stepping into the limelight with his debut single, ‘Better’ produced by Graeye. The song is a heartfelt expression of emotional pain, feeling trapped in life’s challenges, and the search for clarity. With raw, relatable lyrics and captivating production, ‘Better’ has struck a chord with listeners, resonating on a deep, emotional level.
“Thus far, it’s been incredible. People relate to the song on a deep level, and that’s all I ever wanted. I’ve received messages from fans telling me how much the song resonates with them, and that’s the most rewarding part of making music,” Whereistoney stated.
Beyond music, Whereistoney is also making strides in the fashion industry with his brand, Toney Clothing. The brand aims to revolutionise shopping by offering a seamless and comfortable experience for fashion lovers worldwide. “Fashion and music go hand in hand. The way you dress is an extension of your identity, just like your music. I make sure my personal style aligns with my brand as an artist—it’s all part of the storytelling,” he said.
