Award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker Jennifer Nkem-Eneanya has unveiled a groundbreaking animated series, Kiliwe The Timebender, designed to fill a significant gap in African children’s content. This innovative project combines engaging storytelling, stunning animation, and valuable life lessons, making it an instant classic for young audiences.

According to Nkem-Eneanya, the animated series follows the thrilling adventures of seven-year-old girl, Kiliwe, who possesses a magical time-bending clock. With the help of her trusty clock, Kiliwe navigates everyday challenges, blending humor, adventure, and problem-solving.

She said, “What sets Kiliwe The Timebender apart is its ability to merge education with entertainment, making learning an enjoyable experience; rooted in African culture and values, the series promotes important lessons on teamwork, honesty, resilience, and personal responsibility.”

“Beyond the animated series, the project expands into interactive learning tools, including TimeBender Playcards – engaging, interactive cards that bring the story to life, and Comic Books –immersive, visually stunning comics; offering young viewers more ways to engage with the story.

Additionally, a spinoff series, titled Kobi’s Kicks, will focus on football, highlighting themes of sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance, which resonate with millions of children across the continent,” added the Chief Content Officer at Amaranthine Media.

She further explained that the series boasts a talented cast of voice actors, including Nigerian film icon Hilda Dokubo and popular radio personality Sisi Boma. “Their performances ensure that the characters remain engaging, relatable, and authentic, making the series enjoyable for both children and parents,” Nkem-Eneanya enthused.

The creative genius noted that there is an urgent demand for content that speaks to African children while maintaining universal appeal, recognising the rise of digital platforms as a gateway for African storytelling on a global scale. She stresses that there is a need for more investment in animation and children’s programming.

Nkem-Eneanya hopes to empower African animators, writers, voice actors, and game developers, helping them shape the future of children’s entertainment in Africa and beyond.
