Adebusuyi Muyiwa and Okunola Mary last weekend became champions in the male and female categories respectively of the Ibadan Golf Club’s 29th founders anniversary kitty, which featured players from across the country.

The one-day competition was part of the activities organized by the club to reassess the progress of the club and map out pathways to a bright future. It began on Tuesday with a cocktail organised by the captain of the club, Col. Ade Sunmonu at the upper pavilion of the club, while prizes presentation and an anniversary dinner were held on Wednesday to coincide with founder’s day.

Adebusuyi returned with a gross of 74 to beat Ogunbameru Lekan, who ended with a gross of 75 and 72 net to the second place, while the female winner, Okunola Mary got 95 gross and 78 net, while Oyome Evelyn won the best net with 78 gross and 72 net.

At the end of the event, elders of the club commended the anniversary committee chairman, Dr. John Dongo for putting up fantastic programmes and a hitch-free tournament to commemorate the anniversary of the club.

The dinner, designed for members of IGC, their spouses and their invited guests, was attended by the cream de la crème of the golf family in Nigeria.

The captain in his address thanked all the distinguished golfers, members, well-wishers and friends of the club for coming to celebrate with them. He assured them that they would see an improved IGC by the time the cosmopolitan golf club celebrates its 30th anniversary.
