Akala, Taviore, others shine at Heritage Bank Skoolimpics

Dalung hails Lagos as school sports frontliner

Oriyomi Akala of Euba Senior Secondary School, Mushin and Anite Taviore from Ipakodo Senior Secondary School were the stars of Skoolimpics, as they won the boys and girls’ 100 metres events respectively.

The championship is a mini sports fiesta fashioned in the tradition of the Summer Olympic Games organised by Heritage Bank in conjunction with Lagos State Sports Commission.

Akala beat Moshood Abdulabeeb from Mushin Secondary School to gold, Abdulabeeb settled for silver, while Chigozie Nweke of FCET, Akoka, Yaba, won the bronze.

Taviore toppled every other contestants in the girls’ event to win gold, while Amunike Peace of Dorcas Memorial Secondary School and Oyebode Victoria from Surulere Local Government Girls School settled for silver and bronze medals respectively.

In the relay race, Euba Secondary School, Mushin won in the boy’s cadre, while Hallmark Group of Schools, Ikorodu won silver and King’s College picked bronze.

Hallmark Group of Schools won gold in the girls’ event, Surulere Girls Secondary School got silver, while Dorcas Memorial College, Ajegunle picked the bronze medal.

In the basketball event, Wesley Girls Secondary School won gold in the girls’ event, while Fopfield Girls School and International School Lagos (ISL) won silver and bronze medal respectively.
