FirstBank’s support key to South-West Games’ success, says Alfred

President of the South-West Games Organising Committee, Lanre Alfred, has described the support the festival has gotten from FirstBank as key to the grassroots development objective of the event.
The three-day competition, which flags off today at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, will feature 1,200 athletes and over 120 officials drawn from the six states that make up the South West region. The athletes will compete in seven events, ranging from football, basketball, volleyball, tennis and archery, among others.
Speaking on the impact sponsors will have on the competition, Alfred said that FirstBank’s endorsement signals a strong commitment to an initiative that will engender social and economic development across the region.
“We are happy to receive the endorsements and blessings as the purpose of this event exceeds the promise of medals; the South West Games is geared towards discovering opportunities where there are none, building partnerships and a sustainable sports ecosystem for the region,” Alfred said.
