Background check hosts Adesokan, urges more support for Badminton
Screening company, Background Check International (BCI) has enjoined corporate Nigeria to support talented youngsters through corporate sponsorship to achieve their potential in sports.
The company also called for adequate funding for sports, saying investment in the sector would help the country develop sportsmen capable of winning laurels for the country.
Speaking during a reception in honour of Dorcas Adesokan, who is currently Africa’s number one badminton player, BCI Managing Director, Mr. Kola Olugbodi said it has become pertinent for corporate organizations to identify talents and potential of youths and provide desired support for them to excel in their chosen careers.
Olugbodi said BCI would support Adesokan’s sporting ambition through a fund me campaign to mobilize support for her participation at the Olympics 2020 badminton event and commended the star for her dedication, commitment and focus, which has assisted her thus far.
The Vice-Chairman, Ogun State Badminton Association, Mrs. Onikepo Adebayo, who accompanied Adesokan to the reception, said the player needed huge support to actualize her aim of attending the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo Japan, adding that she has volunteered to help the award-winning champion to remain focused in her goals.
Also speaking at the event, Adesokan thanked the BCI management for the support and encouragement she has received from the organization. She expressed her determination to soar and bring more honour to Nigeria through Badminton. She also appreciated her coaches who have remained steadfast in ensuring that she performed excellently in all her tournaments.
