BALLS Activating Literacy and Leadership (BALL) Africa has announced the launch of 3Points, a financial literacy programme designed for secondary school students aged 11 to 18, who desire to build a career in sports and other life endeavours.
BALL said the programme is a yearly event with an ambitious goal to educate 5,000 children across Nigeria every academic year. In a statement made available to The Guardian, BALL said it is partnering with Plumule Advisory, a venture capital organisation that will serve as the technical partners for the 3Points programme, led by Gabriel Ologunwa.
It said that the 3Points curriculum is strategically crafted to engage young minds by leveraging the universal appeal of sports, through compelling case studies of athletes and real-world sports scenarios.
“At the programme, students will learn essential financial principles, which includes budgeting, saving, investing, and wealth management, using interactive sessions, group projects and involvement of local sports personalities to educate the participants.
“Students will gain a robust understanding of financial planning alongside the values of teamwork, perseverance, and strategic thinking after the programme.
“This unique approach aims to make complex financial concepts accessible, relatable, and enjoyable for adolescents beyond classroom learning.” It said that the initiative of the student financial literacy programme is structured to foster community engagement and stimulate local discourse on financial empowerment.
