BetKing boosts support for para-athletes at National Sports Festival

Sports-tech and entertainment firm BetKing has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity by sponsoring all para-sports events at the recently concluded National Sports Festival, hosted at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Ogun State.

Athletes with disabilities from across Nigeria participated in the para-athletics segment of the festival, which drew competitors from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. BetKing’s involvement included providing full sponsorship for equipment, travel logistics, medical classification services, and welfare support for over 400 para-athletes.

“Our sponsorship of para-sports at the National Sports Festival reflects our deeper responsibility to support the overlooked,” said Gossy Ukanwoke, Managing Director of KingMakers and Chief Executive Officer of BetKing. “We believe that every athlete, regardless of ability, deserves a platform to compete, grow, and inspire. This is not charity—it’s a celebration of resilience, talent, and inclusion.”

The company’s presence in para-sports is not limited to the festival. BetKing also sponsors the annual BetKing Wheelchair Basketball Competition, which gathers top-performing adaptive athletes from across the country to compete, build skills, and gain recognition.

Separately, BetKing runs a social impact campaign known as BetKing Cares, currently underway in Lagos, Abia, Bayelsa, and Ogun States. While distinct from its sporting initiatives, the program includes medical outreach and food drives, reflecting the brand’s broader focus on community support and nationwide welfare.

Ukanwoke emphasised that the company’s efforts at the National Sports Festival are part of a larger strategy aimed at building equitable opportunities in sports. “We’re not just investing in sports—we’re investing in people, stories, and a new standard of representation,” he said. “Nigeria’s para-athletes deserve every cheer they got in Abeokuta, and many more beyond that.”
