GuarantyTrust Bank Plc (GTBank Plc) yesterday began the fifth season of Camp GTBank for 40 students and 60 school coaches selected for intensive development programme holding at the Lekki Campus of Greensprings School.

The Camp GTBank is a football and educational development initiative designed to train and develop outstanding football talents discovered at the GTBank football tournament that include the GTBank Lagos and Ogun states Principals Cup, and Masters Cup.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, the Gtbank Plc Communications and External Affairs Officer, Tolulope Latunji said the idea of the camp was to help prepare the gifted students for successful football careers not leaving out their education.

“The players’ development programme is for the exceptional players, who are brought to camp beyond playing for their schools. It is the fifth season and the students are going to be in camp for eight days where trainers, led by Coach Augustine Eguavoen and others, will be taking them round the basics of football, while the coaches too will receive training,” she said.

Speaking on the programme, Eguavoen said,  “This is the first time I will be part of this project and I am delighted to be here. In my days we never had the platform to showcase our talents. What GTBank is doing here is to help the students harness their talents so that they can have something to fall back on if education does not work for them, “ he stated.
