CHAN defeat should not jeopardise AFCON qualifiers, Chukwu warns

Christian ChukwuFORMER Super Eagles’ coach, Christian Chukwu, has urged officials of the national team to stop brooding on the team’s failure at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) and concentrate on March’s Nations Cup qualifiers against Egypt.

Chukwu, like most Nigerians, is baffled by the country’s failure in Rwanda, but he believes the lessons from the competition should help to build a better Super Eagles.

The former Harambee Stars of Kenya coach advised Oliseh to invite the best players with out sentiments for the qualifiers, adding that Nigeria has what it takes to return to glory.

The former Enugu Rangers’ captain also advised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to help the Super Eagles prepare well for the qualifiers.

“I was not happy with the Eagles’ early exit from the CHAN, but that does not mean the coaches and the players should be written off.

“The restructuring of the team is yielding good result because some of the players discovered from the domestic league can contest favourably with their foreign counterparts, ” he said.
