Corona School Gbagada at the weekend defeated Chrisland School Opebi, Ikeja, by 4 to 2 tries to raise the school’s hope of getting the maximum points that will assist it to win the ongoing the All Rugby Schools Elite Development Programme championship.

The match, held at Chrisland School Opebi, Lagos, witnessed fanfare, as parents came out en masse to cheer up their wards.

Daniel Iwagbu converted the first try for Corona in the early minute of the encounter, while Chimeberem Nkpolara scored the second try for Corona. Chrisland School could not overturn the game throughout the tie as the fire power of Daniel Iwegbu and Ebuka Obioha who scored a try each could not allow the host team carry the day.

Tobi Agoro and Chisom Ebulie efforts were not enough to make Chrisland catch up with their opponents.

In the other games of the day, Temple beat Chrisland 6-4, while Corona drew 3-3 with Temple.

Speaking after the event, Head of Marketing, My Family Mobile, Israel Onasanwo, stated that the family technology company will not relent in its effort to develop rugby in the country.

Programme Co-ordinator, Oluseyi Opanubi, explained that the rugby championship for schools in Lagos promises to be exciting, as more logistics will be put in place to imbibe more techniques to the children in the second stanza of the championship.
