Durosimi-Etti, Adeyinka zoom into quarterfinals

Men’s singles defending champion, Ahmed Adeyinka and 2013 winner, Tolu Durosimi-Etti, are among the players that have qualified for the quarterfinals of the on-going 48th Asoju-Oba Molade Okoya Thomas Table Tennis Championship holding at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

In the men’s singles category, there are players competing for places in the last four, while eight women are aiming for places in the final.

Also in the quarterfinals are Policewoman, Funke Hassan, Dayo Adenugba, women singles defending champion, Bose Odusanya, Taiwo Williams, Alimot Ayinla, Fatimo Bello, Nimota Aregbesola and Modinat Yusuf.

Nurudeen Hassan, Isiaka Seriki, Joseph Osendukwu, David Fayele, Rogba Olawoyin, Rilwan Akanbi, Seun Adeleye, Monsuru Kazeem, Samson Agbaje, Olakunle Ajulo, Bolaji Asekun and Ayo Omotara will also battle for semifinals tickets.

Durosimi-Etti, who claimed the brand new car at the 45th edition of the championship in 2013, believes she is capable of beating the younger players to the laurel.

“I am well ready to win back my title, having taken part in the just concluded NTTF National Championships., I am confident that nothing can stop me from reclaiming the title this year based on my present form coupled with my warm-up with the national tournament.,” she said.

Also sure of success is Policewoman, Hassan, who is optimistic that the title would not elude her this year. “I don’t want to make any mistake having played in a series of competitions and also making it to the last four at the just concluded NTTF National Championship. I am indeed in a good frame of mind to win the title this year,” Hassan vowed.
