Eagles battle Niger in Port Harcourt, Tanzania settle for Turkey camp

Following the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) inability to actualize the proposed friendlies against Ghana and Togo ahead of the 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier against Tanzania, the Super Eagles will now play neighbours, Niger Republic, in a friendly on September 9 in Port Harcourt, reports Africanfootball.com.

A top NFF official said, “the match against Niger is now confirmed for Port Harcourt after the AFCON qualifier in Tanzania. The other proposals to other neigbouring countries like Ghana and Togo did not fly.”

While the Super Eagles are planning a friendly against Niger Republic, Tanzania are scheduled for a training camp in Turkey, where their home-based stars would be joined by stars from Europe to prepare for the game.

The East African have picked five overseas in their a 29-man squad dominated by players from Azam FC, who will train in Turkey ahead of next month’s AFCON qualifier.

Tanzania, under coach Charles Benjamin Mkwasa, opened their training camp yesterday in Dar Es Salaam.

The foreign pros will later join the rest of the local-based players for 10 days training in Istanbul, Turkey, where they will play two test matches against Libya and Kuwait.
