Top primary and secondary school students in Lagos and its environs are expected to battle for honours at the first monthly Eduline Chess Academy tournament, which holds today at Fun Plex Resort, CMD Road, Magodo Phase II, Lagos.

According to the organisers, the competition, which is supported by Cornerstone Believers Church, CMD Road, Lagos, is open to primary and secondary school students, with the aim of stimulating their interest in the game of chess.

Starting by 9.00am, it will be segmented into secondary and  primary schools categories, with winners getting prizes and ratings. There is also a special prize for the best female participants, which, the organisers said, is aimed at deepening the interest of the girl child in chess.

A licensed arbiter, Kehinde Paul Boyo, according to the organisers, is the chief arbiter for the competition.

Eduline Chess Academy is one of the many youth development initiatives of Eduline Learning Co., a supplementary education initiative founded by Pastor Emmanuel Okonkwo, the senior pastor of Cornerstone Believers  Church and Mr. Gabriel Airewele, a lawyer and partner in Rocklegal Law Firm.

According to the founders, Eduline Learning Co. seeks to provide youth to increase their general abilities, in addition to the education being provided in their regular schools.
