The third Emmanuel Egbele Yearly Scrabble Tournament (EEAST) will hold on June 2 and 3, 2023, the organisers have announced.

According to the organisers, top players, including continental, national and regional champions, as well as other outstanding players across all categories will participate in the two-day event.

The EEAST tourney has become an arena for exciting competition among scrabble players and the organisers have promised to go a notch higher than past editions.

In the last championship, tagged ‘Sophomore’ edition, current African champion, Enoch Nwali, took the crown at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking on the competition, the convener of the 2023 championship, tagged ‘The Trilogy,’ Emmanuel Egbele said this year’s programme was strategically planned by his team to set higher standards as preparatory ground for players representing the country at the World English Language Speaking Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC) scheduled for July.

“The Trilogy edition is the third instalment of the Emmanuel Egbele Yearly Scrabble Tournament (EEAST) and it is expected to unpack a lot of activities during the Tournament.

“What we should expect is a high-tempo tournament similar to what was witnessed last year and more. Being a top-rated event on the NSF Calendar, we expect top players to jostle for prizes and ultimately for the trophy, as well as to be adorned in our red jacket outfit, specially designed for the winner,” he said.
