ENPPI, NSCDC win 2022 ITTF Club Championship titles
EGYPT’S ENPPI Club and Nigeria’s NSCDC, yesterday, won the ITTF 2022 African Club Championships’ men and women categories respectively.
The championship is one of the three events billed for the table tennis festival at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium.
ENPPI, now two-time champions, defeated Ogun State-based table tennis club, Remo Stars, in the final 3-0 (3-2, 3-0, 3-1) at the ITTF African Club Championships, while NSCDC beat her fellow Nigerian counterpart, Ocean Front 3-2 (2-3, 3-0, 3-0, 3-2, 0-3) to win the championship.
On their way to the final, ENPPI beat IUG Douala of Cameroun 3-0 (3-0, 3-0, 3-0), while NSCDC defeated Commercial Bank of Ethiopia 3-1, (3-0, 2-3, 3-0, 3-0).
Remo Stars beat their Nigerian counterparts, NSCDC, in the semifinal 3-1 (0-3, 3-2, 3-0, 3-0), while Ocean Front defeated Cote d’Ivoire 3-0 (3-0,3-0,3-2).
Speaking on his team’s victory, ENPPI’s Captain, Antoine Hachard, said: “It was a crazy experience in Nigeria. Every time I come here, people are funny. There will be more crazy people in the crowd and more fun. It’s nice every time we play here and every people like it and they come to watch.”
