Etebo arrives Lagos for Nigeria’s international
Portugal-based attacking midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, arrived in Lagos on Tuesday evening, three days after helping his club, CD Feirense, gain promotion to the Primeira Liga, reports allnigeriasoccer.com.
The former Warri Wolves star’s agent said Etebo thought it best to join the Super Eagles backroom staff that will travel to France from Nigeria, instead of making the 1,031- mile journey from Santa Maria da Feira to Rouen, venue of the Super Eagles clash with Mali.
“Etebo arrived in Lagos around 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday from Portugal and will be in Warri shortly, ” Etebo’s representative, Eddy Ogbemudia, said.
“He will leave with the other contingent in Nigeria on the night of May 24 from Abuja, ” he added.
The 20-year-old Etebo has two caps for the Super Eagles A Team and was on target against Egypt in an African Cup of Nations qualifier back in March.
Meanwhile, former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director and one time Flying Eagles coach, Tunde Disu, has backed the senior national team to post a good result in the two international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.
Interim Coach, Salisu Yusuf, will lead the team against the two countries on the May 27 and 31 respectively.
According to Disu, Yusuf along with his assistants, Imama Amapakabo and Kennedy Boboye, are good enough to guide Nigeria through to a successful outing.
