Heineken has promised golfers and enthusiasts of the sport a lot of exciting moments at the 2015 Nigeria Cup, which holds this weekend at the Golf Section of the Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos.

About 180 golfers will slug it out in the finals of the various events of the Nigeria Cup, which commenced on Saturday with the theme ‘Seven Shades of Green.’

According to Heineken’s senior brand manager, Ngozi Nkwoji, the Nigerian Breweries through the brand has been partnering with Ikoyi Club for several years and is committed to the sponsorship.

“The game of golf apart from being a professional and recreational sport provides our youths a platform for networking, socializing as well as development of the physical well-being.

“Although we have a global identity with the UEFA Champions League, but when you look at your locality you will see what makes you a truly Nigerian and the Nigerian Cup in Ikoyi is truly a Nigerian tournament.

“In other countries on the continent, Heineken identifies with events that relate to them and this is exactly what we are doing here today,” she explained.

Also speaking on the Nigeria Cup, the chairman of the Organising Committee, Lanre Kalejaiye, said the competition will showcase “a key value that defines who we are, and celebrate a different shade of our national color – green.”
