FG inaugurates investigative committee for 2024 Paris Olympics, Paralympics

The Federal Government has officially inaugurated a seven-member committee to investigate the negative exposures the country was subjected to at the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympic Games.

The committee was also mandated to wade into the doping issues surrounding some of the athletes at the Olympics and Paralympics, the contract agreement between Actively Black company and the Nigeria Olympic Committee, code of conduct among Team Nigeria members, etc.

The inauguration was made by the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, at the media centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The minister stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in the nation’s sporting endeavours.

He expressed confidence in the ability of the committee to get the job done since members of the committee were men and women of honour and integrity.

The following committee members were inaugurated: Dr. Mumuni Alao as Chairman, while the other members and secretary of the committee are as follows: Aliyu Mohammed (NW) – Member, Hajia Rakiya Muhammed (NC) – Member, Godwin Enakhena (SS) – Member, Dr. Abubakar Ango (NE) – Member, Nnene Akudo (SE) – Member, and Barr. Victor Okangbe (SS) – Secretary.

The Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Mumuni Alao, thanked the minister for the opportunity to serve the nation.

He assured him that they would approach the assignment with commitment, adding that the committee would not disappoint the nation.

As part of the terms of reference, the committee is saddled with the responsibility of revisiting the issues that exposed the nation inappropriately, including the omission of Favour Ofili’s name and doping issues surrounding some of the athletes at the Olympics and Paralympics.

The alleged contract agreement between Actively Black and the Nigeria Olympic Committee, code of conduct among Team Nigeria members, etc.
